5 writing mistakes that make you look dumb

CopyBlogger Brian Clark has put together a short list of 5 easy to avoid mistakes that make you look, in his words, “dumb”. This are all simple writing mistakes and include:

  1. Your using “your” when you mean you are.
  2. It’s is what you right when it is, its is what you right when something belongs to it.
  3. There paper used there when it should have used their, and vice versa.
  4. Things affect other things, thereby causing an effect.
  5. The dangling participle. As in:

After rotting in the cellar for weeks, my brother brought up some oranges.

Uhh… keep your decomposing brother away from me!
